Merthyr Self Storage are pleased to announce that as from June 2012 they will be officially supporting the important and essential work done by Cancer Research Wales. Cancer is an illness that touches the lives of many families in wales, however thanks to the work done by Cancer Research Wales at their research laboratory in Velindre Hospital, Cardiff, and many other research facilities around the world, this doesn’t have to be the devastating news it used to be.
When deciding on a charity to support, Mr Karim, owner of Merthyr Self Storage, wanted it to be a local charity, but one that global impact. Speaking to colleagues and customers the overwhelming opinion was that the greatest impact to families in the local area came from cancer related illnesses, and that most people had personal accounts to tell of their contact with the disease. Merthyr Self Storage had already been helping raise funds for Cancer Research Wales through collection boxes in its reception and by supporting fund-raising activities. In 2011, Merthyr Self Storage, and its sister company Hire Me Vehicle Hire, provided free transport for the Three Peaks challenge.
Having decided which charity to support as a company, the next decision would be how best to provide that support? The company decided that for every new customer booking storage, they would donate £2.00 to Cancer Research Wales. Mr Karim said “I am very excited about this sponsorship. I believe that this is a very important cause that is close to the hearts of everyone at Merthyr Self Storage”
