Expecting a new addition (or additions) to your family, but struggling to make room? If moving to a bigger place is out of the question, try these space-saving tips that’ll help you make some extra space for your growing family.
If large enough, your wardrobe is a walk in, can it become an alcove for a crib or any other piece of baby furniture (changing table, bassinet, etc.). Just remove the door and, if necessary, add a fresh coat of paint to liven up the new living area.
Or optimize your wardobe space.
If your closet isn’t big enough to fit new furniture, optimize whatever space you have by adding extra clothing rods or an over-the-door organizer for your baby’s clothing and necessities.
Purchase convertible and multi-use furniture.
Living in a small space means you have to be careful when it comes to buying furniture, as they will take up the most room in your home. Invest in multi-use furniture. Whether it’s a crib that doubles as a changing table or something similar, save yourself room and money with space-saving furniture.
Make smart shopping decisions.
Try to stick to what you need. Remember, children grow quickly, so it’s probably not a good idea to buy an abundance of clothing. They will start to clutter your home faster than you think. Toys are also easily outgrown, so try not to overdo it (even though not spoiling your newborn may be difficult).
Do a house-wide purge.
Before your baby arrives, go through your entire home and get rid of anything that you don’t need anymore. Declutter as much as possible or invest in a storage unit to put away things you can’t throw away or donate.
